There is no cost for a deceased veteran. There is no cost for a spouse of a veteran, as long as the veteran is surviving. The veteran's DD214 is required.
Up to 10 certified copies can be ordered at no cost. The copies should be received within 10 to 12 business days. Note: the US Postal may cause a delay.
Standard copies do not list medical information, such as the cause(s) and manner of death but do include medical certifier’s name and address. These can be used to conduct business when the cause and manner of death is not a concern, such as,
